Overview

Service Territories in Zenbooker is a feature tailored for businesses delivering on-site services, from plumbing to cleaning across various regions. It empowers businesses to customize booking availability based on location, adapt service offerings and pricing to different markets, and assign providers to specific territories for efficient dispatching.

You can create multiple service territories with unique hours, services, and service providers.

With service territories, you can:

  • Set different operating hours for each territory, which adjusts when a job can be booked.

  • Define a service area by either setting a radius, drawing a geofence, or pasting a list of ZIP/Postal codes.

  • Assign the service providers to specific territories (each service provider can be assigned to one or more territories).

  • Manage the services offered in each territory.

Use Cases for Territories

Regional Specializations: A cleaning company serves both coastal and downtown urban areas. Using Service Territories, they can ensure that their coastal team, familiar with tackling salt and moisture challenges, only gets bookings from the coastal areas. Meanwhile, their urban team, adept at handling pollution-related cleaning, attends to the downtown bookings. This minimizes travel and ensures regional expertise.

Localized Pricing Models: Using Service Territories, a mobile auto detailing service charges higher rates for detailing in affluent neighborhoods, capturing premium value. In less affluent areas, they offer competitive pricing for basic services, aligning with local market conditions and maximizing revenue opportunities.

Unified Booking Across Major Markets: Consider a national furniture assembly and repair service operating in major cities like NYC, Washington DC, and Chicago. Each of these cities, being distinct markets with unique demands and potentially different time zones, presents its own set of challenges. Using Service Territories, the company can offer a unified booking experience across all its markets. When a customer from Chicago begins the booking process by entering their ZIP code, they immediately see availability, services, and pricing tailored for the Chicago territory. Similarly, a customer from NYC or Washington DC would see offerings specific to their respective regions. This ensures that customers get a consistent and localized booking experience, no matter which city they're in. The company can efficiently manage its operations in each city, ensuring that the right services are offered at the right times, and that service providers are always operating within their designated territories, optimizing travel and response times.

Getting Started

  1. In the Zenbooker Dashboard, click Territories

  2. Click the Enable Service Territories button

After enabling it, you'll automatically have your first territory added to your account. This first territory is created based on your current business address, time zone, hours, and service zone options. By default, this territory name is the same as the city your business is located in, but you can customize it to what you want.

At this point, you can edit your first territory or create an entirely new territory.

The maximum number of territories that you can have active at once depends on your Zenbooker plan. If you need more territories than any of our listed plans offer, reach out to support to discuss a custom plan for your needs.

Territories that you've deactivated don't count toward this limit.

Defining Your Service Area

The service area of a territory determines where it provides service. When a customer starts the booking process, Zenbooker matches their location against your service areas to determine the appropriate territory to route the customer to.

Zenbooker offers three methods to set the service area of a territory:

  • Geofence: Draw your service boundary on a map.

  • Radius: Define a circular area from a central point.

  • ZIP Codes: Input a list of serviced ZIP codes.

Tip: Ensure each territory's service area is distinct and non-overlapping. Overlapping areas can introduce ambiguity in job assignments. Since Zenbooker assigns a job to only one territory, unique service areas prevent potential conflicts.

Customizing Offerings & Pricing

With Zenbooker, you can adjust your service offerings and pricing structures based on the territory. This feature ensures that customers see only the relevant services for their location.

Managing Bookings and Workforce

  • Territory-Based Scheduling: Define distinct operational hours and booking rules for each territory.

  • Workforce Allocation: Assign team members to territories, ensuring efficient job scheduling & dispatching.

Location-Based Online Booking Flow

The heart of Zenbooker's online booking process is its ability to discern which territory will service a customer. Here's how it works:

  1. Territory Identification: When a customer initiates a booking, Zenbooker first determines the appropriate territory based on the customer's location.

  2. Present Options: Once the relevant territory is identified, the system presents services, pricing, and availability based on that specific territory's settings. This ensures that customers always see options relevant to their location and your business's offerings in that area.
